Day 48: Gone fishing

Sautrday 29th December.

Well today, thanks to Jo very kindly doing a shift for me, was my very first actual day off with James. We had tried and failed to organise a heli trip, and hiring a landrover on Saturdays means you have to pay for an entire weekend. So we were a little stuck. The weather was pretty grotty too, persistent drizzle all day long, but we were desperate to get off base.

Trying to organise any outing, no matter how small, requires a lot of logistics planning. I had decided to arrange a fishing trip (!!). I had aquired a fishing licence for the day, bought some spinners, and arranged to use the met office landrover and the search and rescue pilots very kindly let us borrow thier fishing rods.

I've been fishing once with James before, and it was fun, even though we didn't catch anything. Today was no different. We set off on the short drive to The Frying Pan and parked up. It was a little estury that ran either side of the road. Even though it was rainy I still had a really nice day, but it took a long time to get warm again!!!

On the walk back to the car we must have looked like two drown rats. Once car pulled over to check that we were OK or if we had broken down, followed by another who then just laughed at us once he saw we had fishing rods and had actually planned to be outside in this weather on purpose!!

Sadly no photos of our Catch Of The Day. Oh well!!!
