Day 52: Half way through; Pleasant Peak

Well today marks the half way point of my detachment in The Falklands. In some ways it's gone really fast, but in other ways I feel so detached from home and it would be nice to be back there. I suppose I have a lot to look forward to when I get to the UK - new job, new house. Exciting. But I am still really enjoying my time here, and there is still lots I want to see and do before I leave. Definitely want to see more penguins!!

Today I was doing an admin shift, to allow Jo a full day off. The sun was shining brightly (a very rare sight lately!) and Jo and Reid called up to suggest I leave work early and go climb up Pleasant Peak with them. You can drive most of the way up, and just climb the last bit. It's about 900 FT higher than MPA (I use the top of the hill to judge the height of stratus...). Some of it was quite steep and I was too scared (obviously) to climb up the raggedy bits, but Reid and Jo just ran up and down them like it was just a normal path. Poor me!!! Oh well...

You can make out MPA in some of the view pictures, but most of just of rocks. Sorry there are so many, I try and narrow the number of pics to about 10, but there are so many I like that I photographed on this trip!

I found a button yesterday that tells me how many people have viewed this blog, and individual posts - and I was very surprised at how many views the page is getting!! So thank you all for reading!! Comments are very welcome too!! I have no idea how, but I guess some viewers must be people I don't even know who have somehow googled penguins or somethings and stumbled across my page!!
